| 内容記述 | This article reports the linguistic and social accommodation of a threeyear-old American child, whose mother tongue is American English, in a Japanese kindergarten. The data come from the weekly observation and video-tapes of the child's behaviors and utterrances in relation to her teacher and classmates. Though this is a preliminary report of the first three months of our on-going research which officially began in April, 1995, we saw how she grew socially, psychologically and lingustically in her new environment during this period. We noted the process was especially facilitated through a medium of another English-Japanese bilingual child whom she had known well before she entered the kindergarten. We noted the growing amount of her knowledge and use of Japanese by watching her interactions with teachers and other children in performing various activities at kindergarten. | |||||||||||||||
