The bank gave up its attempt to restructure itself in March 2002: due to a failed capital increase which triggered a deposit outflow, while its capital adequacy ratio declined in the 1990s, causing a large amount of non-performing loans after the bursting of the bubble economy. In this paper, I interviewed the president of the bank at the time of the bankruptcy on his perception as a party, to the reason why and how the bank failed.
